Green Planet Surfer South Stradbroke Beach Clean Up day

The recent storms have stirred things up, leaving our beloved South Stradbroke beaches in need of our care. Join Green Planet Surfer and Clean Up Australia on 9.00am Saturday, May 4th, 2025, for a day of action, connection, and giving back to the place that gives us so much.

Hey, you know that feeling of gliding across a clean wave, that sense of pure connection with the ocean? Let's bring that same purity back to the shores of South Stradbroke Island. The recent cyclones and rains have left behind a lot of debris, especially plastics, and our island sanctuary needs our help to breathe again.

Green Planet Surfer is teaming up with the awesome folks at Clean Up Australia to organise a beach clean-up, and we'd love for you to be a part of it. This isn't just about picking up rubbish; it's about showing our love for the ocean, connecting with fellow ocean-minded souls, and making a tangible difference to a place that holds a special kind of magic for all of us.

Getting there:

The clean up location is only accessible by boat and all volunteers will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the clean up site.

Important Things to Know (Please Read Carefully):

  • Registration is a Must: To ensure everyone's safety and a smooth operation, all participants need to register.
  • On-Site Check-In: Once you arrive, please make sure to complete the official registration with the Clean Up Australia team.
  • Little Ocean Protectors: If you're bringing anyone 15 years young or under, please make sure they're accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Dress for Success (and Safety!): Sturdy, enclosed shoes are essential, along with gloves and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeves). Staying hydrated is key too, so bring plenty of water.
  • Look, Don't Touch (Unless You're Sure): Some of the items we might find could be hazardous (building materials, chemicals, etc.). If you're unsure about anything, please don't handle it and let our Site Supervisor know immediately.
  • Be Mindful of Your Surroundings: Some clean-up areas might have potential dangers (roadsides, uneven terrain, etc.). Please take extra care for your own safety and the safety of those around you.
  • Respect the Local Wildlife (Including the Hidden Kind!): South Stradbroke is home to some amazing creatures, including snakes and spiders. Please be aware of your surroundings and act with caution.
  • Syringes? Leave Them Be: If you happen to spot a syringe, please do not touch it. Inform your Site Supervisor right away.
